Our Mission
“We are an inclusive alliance that energetically engages our faith and non-faith communities to discover and honor what we share in common and to learn, understand, and appreciate our differences. We create this through service, community engagement, education, dialogue, and celebration”
Educate and Connect
The Riverside Interfaith Council serves to enrich community life in Riverside, California, through education, dialogue, and the celebration of diverse faiths. By fostering connections between varied spiritual traditions, we promote understanding and compassion among individuals and groups, contributing positively to our shared community and the world.

Our History
The Riverside Interfaith Council functions through a governance model grounded in consultation and consensus, guided by a shared vision that informs our strategies, goals, activities, and community engagement. Our work is rooted in connection, collaboration, and a commitment to the common good.

The Riverside Alliance began in June 2014 as an idea to bring faith and spiritual communities together to serve as a supportive and educational resource for community college students. Our first meeting took place on October 23, 2014. At that gathering, participants articulated a shared goal: to create a community of compassion among people of diverse faiths and cultures in Riverside through Service, Education, and Celebration. These three principles—Service, Education, and Celebration—became our areas of intentional focus.
At that initial meeting, representatives from five communities came together and committed to continuing the work of developing an interfaith presence in Riverside. During our first year, we hosted an Interfaith Dialogue at Riverside City College, attended the Parliament of the World’s Religions international conference, and participated in an Interfaith Vigil.

Today, we are known as the Riverside Interfaith Council and include faith-based, spiritual, and atheist communities. We provide both safe and brave spaces for interfaith dialogue, learning, and engagement. Each year, we host Riverside’s Faith Walk, facilitate discussions, visit faith and non-faith communities, and collaborate with other community organizations to strengthen understanding and cooperation across differences.

We warmly welcome you and look forward to your joining us on our shared interfaith journey.
